Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital was established on November 11, 1999, and is a large specialized heart disease hospital. In January 2018, the hospital passed the evaluation for a Class A Tertiary Hospital in Hubei Province.
The hospital has 750 open beds, with a total of 110 beds in the ICU, CCU, and PICU. There are 8 operating rooms and 7 cardiac intervention catheterization rooms, and it currently employs over 2,000 staff members.
Over the past 20 years, Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital has treated more than 3.6 million heart disease patients and successfully completed over 307,000 various simple and complex cardiac surgeries. The patient age range spans from infants with complex congenital heart disease, only 13 hours old, to elderly patients aged 98. Among these, the cardiothoracic surgery department performs over 5,000 surgeries annually, ranking among the top three in the country and first in Hubei Province for sixteen consecutive years. The interventional cardiology department performs over 26,000 surgeries annually, also ranking in the top ten nationally and first in Hubei Province.
The hospital has become affiliated with Wuhan University, the Wuhan University Asia Heart Disease Clinical Academy, the Wuhan University of Science and Technology Asia Medical Center, and the affiliated hospital of Wuhan University of Science and Technology. In 2010, it became a pilot center for regional collaboration in congenital heart disease in children; in 2011, its cardiothoracic surgery department was approved as a "National Clinical Key Discipline Construction Project"; in 2012, the interventional cardiology department was recognized as a "National Cardiovascular Intervention Training Base" and received the qualification as a "National Clinical Trial Institution" the same year. In 2013, the hospital received the honor of being an "Advanced Collective" in the national health system from the National Health and Family Planning Commission. In 2014, the hospital’s laboratory center passed ISO 15189 international accreditation, signifying that its testing quality meets the highest international standards. In 2014, it established Hubei Province's first chest pain center in collaboration with the Wuhan 120 Emergency Center. In 2015, the Asia Heart Chest Pain Center was awarded the title of Regional Certification Center and Demonstration Center for Chinese Chest Pain Centers. In 2016, the cardiothoracic surgery department became a "Standardized Training Base for Resident Physicians in Hubei Province." In 2018, it became a demonstration base for national heart failure centers and atrial fibrillation centers.
With a compassionate healthcare ethos over the past 20 years, the staff at Asia Heart Hospital have measured the vastness of the country on foot to uphold the banner of medical poverty alleviation. They have traveled hundreds of thousands of miles, providing free heart screenings for nearly 40,000 children in 13 provinces and autonomous regions, and have successfully performed free surgeries for over 12,700 impoverished children with congenital heart disease.
While continuously developing, Asia Heart Hospital actively promotes hierarchical medical services, closely cooperating with grassroots medical institutions and bringing excellent medical resources down to the community level. In November 2010, Asia Heart Hospital acquired the Xinjiang Cardiovascular Hospital, establishing the Asia Heart Hospital Xinjiang branch. By 2019, the Xinjiang branch had completed over 22,000 cardiac surgeries.
The hospital has earned honors such as "Key Specialty Construction Project in Autonomous Region's Cardiac Surgery/Cardiology" and "Most Valuable Private Hospital in the Country." In 2015, it partnered with the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College to jointly establish a cardiac surgery center, pioneering a new model of cooperation between private hospitals and public tertiary hospitals. Over the past three years, they have completed over 1,000 various cardiac surgeries, significantly improving the treatment level of heart disease in the eastern Guangdong region and achieving positive social benefits.
In 2016, it collaborated with the Central Hospital of Dengzhou City in Henan Province to establish a Joint Cardiac Center, with experts from Asia Heart Hospital stationed in Dengzhou. They pioneered over ten new techniques, including emergency PCI and IABP implantation, completing over 3,000 various interventional surgeries, significantly enhancing the level of cardiac disease diagnosis and treatment in the region.
In 2018, the hospital founded the Fuyang branch of Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital, allowing the people of Fuyang to access top-notch cardiac care right at their doorstep. Since its opening, the hospital has had over 30,000 patient visits and completed over 2,500 various cardiac surgeries.
