In December 2015, Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital partnered with the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University to jointly establish a cardiac surgery center in the Guangdong. Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital sent a surgical and management team of over 20 members to Shantou, working alongside the medical staff of the First Affiliated Hospital to provide convenient, high-quality, and advanced cardiac surgery services for heart patients.
Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital is one of the national specialized cardiac hospitals, with 750 open beds. Its cardiac surgery department has performed more than 60,000 various cardiac surgeries, consistently ranking among the top three in the country for twelve consecutive years. It is recognized as a "National Clinical Key Specialty Construction Project" and a "National Regional Collaborative Center for Congenital Heart Disease," having filled over 20 technical gaps in cardiac surgery.
The First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University has a comprehensive range of specialties, a wealth of talent, excellent facilities, and prominent disciplinary advantages. It includes 20 provincial-level clinical key specialties, key disciplines, and key laboratories, providing comprehensive diagnostic and treatment methods along with higher level of clinical experience.
The joint cardiac surgery center has completed over 900 cardiac surgeries, with 18% of these being emergency cases involving major vascular diseases (such as aortic dissection).
The joint cardiac surgery center has dispatched a professional medical team equipped with portable ultrasound equipment to conduct large-scale rescue services, such as "Heart Technology in Hundred Counties" and congenital heart disease screenings across various districts in Shantou. They have conducted a total of 30 free clinics, providing free medical consultations and ultrasound examinations for over 13,000 people.
